Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has named three newly constructed government buildings after his predecessors, Ayodele Fayose, Kayode Fayemi and Segun Oni, in recognition of their contributions to the development of the state.
The buildings named after Fayemi and Fayose are scheduled for commissioning on Friday, July 31, and Monday, August 3, respectively, while another building named after Oni is at an advanced stage of completion and is expected to be inaugurated in October.
The state government also said the three former governors would serve as special guests of honour and personally commission the buildings named after them on the designated dates.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said the gesture was part of Oyebanji’s commitment to honouring leaders who had contributed to the growth and development of Ekiti State.
The statement recalled that the governor had, in October 2024, named the remodelled Presidential Lodge after the state’s first civilian governor, Niyi Adebayo.
The facility was later commissioned by Adebayo as part of activities marking the second anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.
According to the statement, the commissioning of the projects marks the beginning of another phase of project inauguration by the governor as he concludes his first term in office and prepares for the inauguration of his second term.
It added that the initiative reflects the administration’s resolve to complete and put into use all projects executed under its Shared Prosperity Agenda for the benefit of the people of the state.
