President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting held behind closed doors.
It came barely four days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke winner of the governorship election in Osun State.
The governor arrived at the forecourt of the presidential villa at exactly 5:25 pm when he alighted from a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.
Decked in a navy blue traditional attire and brandishing a walking stick, Adeleke arrived alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Four other officials from Osun State also arrived at the villa premises at about 05:40 pm local time.
They include the Director-General of Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the Council, Mr Sunday Bisi; Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State, Akinleye Kazeem, and member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State, Bamidele Salam.
Adeleke’s visit came days after President Tinubu personally called to congratulate him on his re-election victory.
The president had described the outcome as “a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country” and urged the governor to unite Osun residents regardless of their political choices in the election.
Adeleke contested the governorship election on the platform of Accord Party and faced stiff opposition from the president’s party, All Progressives Congress (APC), which fielded Bola Oyebamiji.
