Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has dissolved the State Executive Council just four days ahead of his inauguration for a second term on October 16.
The dissolution affected members of the 2022–2026 Exco, including Commissioners, Special Advisers, Directors-General, and other political appointees.
However, the dissolution did not affect the Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Habitat Adubiaro; and the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, as they retained their positions.
Oyebanji announced the dissolution on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, during the valedictory meeting of the council.
The governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners and other council members for their support, dedication and commitment to the service of the state during his first term.
He said their contributions were instrumental to the achievements his administration recorded in the last four years.
Oyebanji also hailed the outgoing Exco members for their roles in implementing government policies and programmes aimed at advancing the state’s development agenda.
The dissolution comes ahead of the governor’s second-term inauguration on October 16, paving the way for the reconstitution of the State Executive Council for the next four years.
