Nigeria’s Super Eagles staged a dramatic comeback on Tuesday against their Russia counterparts to earn a 3-3 draw in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
The match which kicked off at 5:00 pm Nigerian time, saw the Super Eagles score first against the hosts who later raced into a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The Russian team extended it in the second half, leaving the Nigerian players with a mountain to climb.
But Eric Chelle’s men showed character as they pulled a second goal back in the 78th minute. And while the encounter was heading into the final minutes, the Super Eagles struck a late equaliser through Akor Adams to deny Russia victory and secure a 3-3 draw.
The result on Tuesday means Nigeria have now drawn back-to-back friendlies against Russia, following a 1-1 draw in their first encounter in Moscow in June 2025.
