2027: Lagos, Kano, 8 Others Have 40.5m Registered Voters – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the latest figures showing the 10 states with the highest number of registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed the figures on Tuesday at the commission’s World Press Conference held in Abuja as part of preparations for the poll.

According to Prof. Amupitan, Lagos has 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano with 6,000,570.

The INEC boss said Kaduna emerged third with 4,000,640 registered voters.

The top 10 states with the highest number of registered voters are:

1.Lagos — 7,488,633

2. Kano — 6,000,570

3. Kaduna — 4,000,640

4. Katsina — 3,876,051

5. Oyo — 3,588,111

6. Delta — 3,525,988

7. Benue — 3,057,225

8. Ogun — 3,037,981

9. Rivers — 3,000,734

10. Bauchi — 3,000,047

As a result, the 10 states with the largest voting populations have a total of 40,575,980 registered voters.

Giving an update on the national voters’ register, Prof. Amupitan disclosed that the register now has over 103 million voters after the commission completed its three-phase Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and biometric clean-up.
