Beware Of Fake FIRS Job Advert, NRS Warns Nigerians

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has disowned a recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

This disclaimer was contained in a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice” posted on its official X page on Monday.

The NRS said its attention was drawn to a notice headlined “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement,” which had been circulating on social media and other platforms.

According to the Service, the notice purportedly advertises employment opportunities within the agency and directs applicants to submit information to the email address recruit@replacementnhrmt.org.

“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” the agency said.

It reminded the public that the FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS.

“Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified,” the Service stated.

The NRS added that it had not authorised any recruitment exercise.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” the notice read.
