Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, who is popularly known as Ogogo, is dead.
He reportedly passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
In a viral video that surfaced online, one of the actor’s daughters, Shakirat Taiwo, aka Kira Taiwo, was seen breaking down in tears after hearing the death of her father.
She had, last week, disclosed that her father was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
Stage 4 cancer means the disease has spread from its original location to distant parts of the body. This process is called metastasis.
The daughter made passionate appeal to Nigerians to assist her father.
According to her, the actor’s family was seeking individuals who could assist with alternative treatment options, including traditional herbs or orthodox medicine.
Nollywood actors had on Friday held a special prayer session for Ogogo as he continued to battle health challenges.
In a video shared on social media, several prominent Yoruba film stars gathered to pray for Allah’s mercy, divine intervention, strength and complete healing for the actor.
Born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State, Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, renowned for his principled and action-packed roles.
