Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived Minna, the Niger State capital, for a condolence visit following the deaths of 37 miners in the custody of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The visit on Monday is part of the Federal Government’s response to the tragic incident, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the miners’ deaths.
Shettima was seen alighting from the aircraft before shaking hands with Governor Umar Bago and his deputy, Yakubu Garba.
“Arrival of Vice-President Kashim Shettima in Minna to condole with the government and people of Niger State over the deaths of 37 miners who died in the custody of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps,” said Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo, the Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy to the Governor of Niger State.
Following the deaths of the victims, the Federal Government constituted a 10-member independent committee to investigate the incident.
