Barely 24 hours after the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal displayed two petitions challenging the re-election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday withdrew its own suit.
The APC and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) challenged the outcome of the election in suit number EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026 and EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, which were filed on Saturday respectively.
The APC suit was filed by its counsel, Oluseyi Oyagbile, and submitted at the Tribunal in company of the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Engr. Kayode Adereti, who signed on behalf of Bola Oyebamiji and other party leaders.
Meanwhile, an acclaimed APC legal team led by Abiodun Layonu, SAN, denounced the petition, insisting that the party is not challenging the outcome of the gubernatorial election.
Speaking on the development, Oyagbile confirmed to THE NATION on phone that he has withdrawn the petition that was filed by the party.
He noted that his client and party leaders have reached out to him to withdraw the petition.
He said, “My client and leaders of APC reached out to me this morning to withdraw the petition I filed on their behalf, I have withdrawn the petition.
“Before I did so, I made them send WhatsApp messages to me giving the instruction so that it will not be a matter of controversy again.”
He reiterated that the deputy governorship candidate of APC, Adereti, signed the petition in company of party leaders and executives at the tribunal on Saturday.
